NOTES
- 5 minutes to plan
- list similarities and differences -> judgement
- use structure to write it!

in the GQ cover David Beckham is represented as sophisticated he is wearing a tuxedo which has connotations of wealth and elegance this contrasts with the cosmo cover where Carrie Underwood is represented as fun and sexy

How is gender represented?
- anti stereotype is that on COSMO there is a male rather then a female when it is a magazine targeted at females and on GQ there is a female rather then a male
- the men have been represented differently to the normal male stereotype - represented in a feminine way on cosmo
- the colors and style on cosmo is stereotypically feminine ( pink/yellow)
- the female on GQ has been sexually objectified by her not wearing any clothes and her hand placement on her face appears flirty
- connotations to greek mythology and medusa - powerful (if you look into her eyes youll get turned into stone) deadly/scary/sexy
- stereotypical representation of a gay man - cosmo
- megative female representation- gq
- stereotypically muted color pallete - gq

Born in kingston jamaica
He is 5'8
hes been playing the highest level of football since the age of 17
born on december 1994
began his carrer at queens park rangers
Sterlings carrer started his carrer at queens park rangers before signing to liverpool in 2010, 2 years later sterling made his senior debut for england starting in a friendly way to sweden 9 years later, he transferred to Manchester city where the media started to present young black footballers in a different way to young white footballers.
Raheem sterling GQ analysis
The masthead is in a big bold and large sans serif font.
The main cover line 'Guardian angel' was suggests that sterling is presented as an angel but angels are streotypically white with angel wings but because hes black and the case is about people who are being racially abused his wings are black.
the cover image was inspired by nick knights photograph for Travis scotts album birds in the trap
ASSESSMENT IMPROVEMENT
the main image shows sterling standing in a confident stance with a large pair of black wings he is looking at he camera with a serious face which clearly directly addresses the audience that he is brave and strong.

REPRESENTATION
in the past muslims have been represented as violent and negative and are stereotypically seen in the media as terrorists na are usually shown as men also rarely being presented in a positive way
in terms of ethnicity the vogue cover shows diversity
female likes - interested in fashion
malala being presented on cover anti sterotypical diversity of religion
presented as feminine through hand placement
EXPLAIN HOW BOTH ETHNICITY AND GENDER HAVE BEEN REPRESENTED O THE COVER
ethnicity is being presented by showing the stereotypical muslim features on the malala cover.
this includes presenting her wearing the stereotypical hijab which is a muslim woman piece of muslim clothing. although across the media muslim people arent majorly portrayed or seen so commonly but if they were to be seen the stereotype of the muslin community is straight agressive terrorist men. not many many muslim women are to be seen majorly on the media but the malala cover changed that as she is being seen as a brave warrior for surviving the taliban

there are more differences compared to similarities about the two covers
The representation between the two of these covers present the very heavy differences of the contexts but both bring a similar meaning. The vogue cover presents Malala in a very bold scarlet red colo
ur pallet staring directly at the camera with a confident and bold presence and the camera angle being completely focused on her face, whereas in the ELLE cover Kim Kardashian is shown posing inside a mid shot camera angle in a very sexual tone.
The Vogue cover featuring Malala Yousafzai captures not just her physical presence, but the strength, resilience, and defiance that defines her. Her gaze, steady and unwavering, mirrors the determination she embodied following the 2012 assassination attempt by the Taliban. juxtaposing this Kim Kardiashians ELLE cover captures Kims very confident and flashy personality and ego showing her hair being blown which represents her more sexual nature.
In addition to this another way these two covers contrast each-other is, in cover 1 Malala is shown to be quite covered up in her hijab and doesn't have much skin showing due to her religion (being a muslim) women have very strict rules on how much skin they are allowed to show, on the other hand kim kardashian is of armenian decent so they. both come from completely different backgrounds and in cover 2 kim is seen to show a fraction of. her slim legs.
in opposition to the differences although he two covers show and present different women with different backgrounds their meanings of the two and the representation of women is just the exact same with them both portraying the deeper hidden meaning of women being strong confident and elegant.
in conclusion to this is that the covers both present the same hidden meaning discarding the differences of how their being presented.
Good notes.
